Year 3

                          Welcome to Year 3    Croeso i Blwydden 3


Miss Roberts is the class teacher

                             This term our topic is called Global Gormet.



This topic teaches children about different types of food from around the world, fair trade and the importance of eating a healthy diet. 

We will be learning

  • Where food comes from.
  • Cultural traditions relating to food.
  • How diet affects our health and well being.
  • Basic food technology skills and following a recipe

Every week we have ukulele lessons with Mr Godwin. We have learned how to hold and strum our instruments and how to play 3 different chords. Our fingers are aching by the end of the session! Watch this space for a video of us playing!

This week in Year 3 we have been

  • learning about the properties of new 2D shapes
  • planning, writing and editing the main part of our recount.
  • learning about the skeleton and the bones in our bodies
  • planning our science investigation and making predictions - Do the children with the longest legs jump the furthest? Watch this space for pictures of us jumping next week.
  • Learning about Divali and acting out the story using puppets.
  • taking part in our pupil voice groups

Class Visits 

On Tuesday 6th November we will be visiting Tesco Llansmalet to learn about where foods come from around the world and having a taste of different foods.

On Friday 16th November we will be walking down to Pizza Express to learn about how pizza is made. We will be making our own pizzas to bring back to school!

This term we will be

  • looking at the features of a recount and writing a letter 
  • using capital letters and full stops independently
  • using the "ed" ending to show the past tense
  • developing our understanding of 100s 10s and units
  • counting, adding and subtracting within 100
  • revising our 2,5,and 10 times tables using TT rockstars
  • investigating the organs of our body and how we can keep healthy
  • talking and writing about ourselves in welsh.
  • writing about a visit in welsh.
